BILLING OPTIONS


PAY AS YOU GO

Trico’s Pay As You Go program is as simple as it sounds: Members pay for electricity before it is used, then use the electricity until the credit expires.

Pay As You Go is a self-managed program. You purchase electricity before you use it. Payments can be made when you want – online, over the phone, on the SmartHub app or in person at Trico’s office. When your account runs low, you will get an alert by email, text or phone call.

With Pay As You Go, Members will be able to avoid deposits, due dates and reconnect fees. Members are responsible for keeping up to date on their account and should ensure that it always has a credit balance. Members can access their prepaid account balances and monitor usage online at trico.smarthub.coop or on the SmartHub App.

While Pay As You Go is a great program, it may not be suitable to all Members and is not available to non‑residential, Time‑of-Use, Net Metering, Distributed Generation (DG) Energy Export, or critical load (medical necessity) customers or those participating in the Budget Billing program.

BUDGET BILLING OPTIONS

Budget Billing is an optional Trico payment plan that allows you to pay for your electric use in equal monthly installments. We offer two options, Levelized Budget and Fixed Budget.

Levelized Budget Plan

LEVELIZED BUDGET

With this option, the amount you owe is recalculated every month based on the last eleven (11) months’ kilowatt-hour usage plus the number of kilowatt-hours used in the current month. Though the Levelized Budget option helps makes your payments more even, the amount you pay is not the same every month.

Fixed Budget Plan

FIXED BUDGET

With this option, your payment is the same every month. The amount is calculated once a year based on the last eleven (11) months’ kilowatt-hour usage plus the number of kilowatt-hours used in the current month. Every May the account is evaluated and adjustments are made if necessary.

REQUIREMENTS FOR BUDGET BILLING

  • You must maintain good credit standing.
  • Your name must appear on the account.
  • Your account must have a good credit history (no more than two delinquencies within the last 12 months and no disconnects for nonpayment.)
  • Your account must be on a residential or small non-residential rate.
  • Your account must be paid in full before changing it to budget billing.
