PROJECT INFORMATION
Trico Electric Cooperative has received $750,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to enhance wildfire protection and resilience in communities it serves by making critical upgrades to its electric system.
Trico Electric Cooperative is a member of a consortium of 38 electric co-ops and other rural utilities selected to receive funding through the Wildfire Assessment and Resilience for Networks project (WARN).
Trico’s funds will be used for right-of-way improvements and other fire mitigation improvements on Mt. Lemmon. The duration of the project will be 5 years.
The improved resilience from this project will ensure reliable service to key communications assets located on Mt. Lemmon that service Tucson and Southern Arizona. It will also help protect the Members, homes and businesses served by Trico as well as the valuable natural environment on Mt. Lemmon.
PROJECT OUTREACH
Community Meetings:
Trico held a community meeting on June 15, 2024 with 50 Members in attendance. Trico shared the WARN grant information and answered Member questions regarding the project.
Trico will be holding another community meeting on Mt. Lemmon in August 2024.
