Your voice matters

By Vin Nitido, Trico CEO and GM

It’s easy to be overwhelmed these days with the constant political messaging in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic.

As a society we have become increasingly tribal and dogmatic. And while I certainly have my own opinions about political and social issues, it’s not my place to advocate a personal point of view in this newsletter. What I am comfortable with, however, is urging you to make your own views heard by voting. Participation through voting is the lifeblood of our democracy. And your vote matters.

As a Co-op member, your vote in state and federal elections will affect the policies, laws and regulations that impact the mix of resources Trico uses to serve your electric needs, and how we will address climate change. Your vote will impact the health and pension benefits we provide to our employees, and the cost of those benefits. It will impact the Federal financing we receive, and even the kind of electric distribution facilities we build.

As an American, your vote will determine what kind of country we are going to be.

I know most of you who are reading this column would never consider not voting. But please urge your friends and family to make their voices heard as well – it really does matter.

October 5, 2020 is the deadline to register to vote in Arizona. Arizona allows early voting and voting by mail. Register to vote at
