In May, Trico employees participated in My Summer Library program at Roadrunner Elementary School in Marana.
My Summer Library program is a collaborative literacy project facilitated by United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona that offers students free books to take home for the summer to keep them sharp in preparation for the next school year. Trico employees served as guest readers and helped students select books for their summer reading.
“I am very proud to work for a company that gives back to the community,” Facility Maintenance Technician Jeff Stetson said.
Member Services Representative Monica Castillo said it was great to see the expressions on the faces of the students when they got to pick out the books.
“They were so cute,” she said. “A few of the kids asked if they could get a book for a younger sibling. When we read to them, they were very interested in the stories and asked questions. It was such a fulfilling experience.”
Trico also recently received a Circle of Excellence Award from the United Way in recognition of Trico’s 2019 fundraising campaign. Employee contributions exceeded $12,000 and Trico donated an additional $5,000.
