Trico awards POWER Grants to 16 non-profit organizations

Trico has awarded a total of $40,000 to 16 non-profit organizations providing critical services in Southern Arizona.

Since 2008, Trico has awarded more than $360,000 in POWER Grants. This year, a second grant cycle has been added, which will result in an additional $40,000 to be awarded in December 2018.

POWER Grants are funded by the Trico Electric Charitable Trust, which receives a portion of its funds from Members who participate in Operation Round-Up and agree to round-up their monthly electric bill to the next whole dollar. Click here for more information.

Helping children read

In 2017, United Community Health Center (UCHC) received a $2,500 POWER Grant from Trico. With the money, UCHC was able to hand out books to approximately 2,600 pediatric patients throughout Green Valley, Sahuarita, Three Points and Arivaca.

“Thank you to Trico for the grant award and the opportunity to be such an integral part of our pediatric patient’s early growth and development, as well as assisting the parents to give them the tools to help their children be successful in life,” said Amber Kaufman, Executive Assistant at UCHC.
