Trico Time-of-Use
Time-of-Use Program
Save money on your electric bill by simply shifting when you use electricity. How? With Trico’s Residential Time-Of-Use (TOU) Rate Program. How it Works
Trico’s regular rate for residential electric energy usage is $.121 per kilowatt hour (kWh) 24 hours a day/7 days a week. TOU customers have two separate rates for electric energy usage: $.0732 per kWh for off-peak hours; $.1932 per kWh for on-peak hours.
By shifting energy usage to off-peak hours when energy usage is billed at the lowest rate, TOU customers save money! A fixed monthly rate of $19 and the Power Cost Adjustor (PCA) still apply.
Is Time-Of-Use for You?
The TOU program is not for everyone. If you’re considering signing up for TOU, you need to carefully analyze how – and WHEN – you use energy.
In order to see a savings, the typical TOU customer must shift about 67 percent of their energy usage to off-peak hours. You may benefit from the TOU program if you:
- Can shift most of your usage to off-peak hours.
- Have low daytime electric use.
- Don’t use air conditioning or can shift most A/C usage to off-peak hours.
- Can operate major appliances such as water heater, pool pumps, or spa heaters during off-peak hours.
The Bottom Line
Trico encourages all participants to remain on the program for at least one year in order to see cost-savings benefits.
